I take a multi-disciplinary approach to the arts. Though acoustic songwriter and singing are the areas I've explored most-fully (touring nationally with the Cordovas (ATO Records) in 2014), I also explore creative expression through digital art (making 1000 pieces in 2016 and 2018) and writing poety (I compose at least one poem per week, within an Austin, TX-based group).

Chris Hannigan is a nationally touring singer/songwriter from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He also engages in daily digital art and writes poetry.

In 2017, he won Winner of 2017 Acoustic Challenge in Pittsburgh, chosen among 44 other talented local songwriters. In 2014, a pivotal year, he toured across the midwest and east coast with Nashville's Cordovas (ATO Records), performing 40 shows in 60 days. Pulling double duty, he performed an opening set of his original music, then switched gears and sang harmonies and strummed his Alvarez acoustic with the Cordovas. During the tour, he promoted his EP, Lickety Split, a small collection of solo acoustic songs recorded at Pittsburgh’s Audible Images Studio, in which he explored themes such as grief, trauma, joy, and introversion. These days, he’s writing and recording new material, and playing in and around Pittsburgh, typically playing a couple shows per week. Interesting, he’s also a part of Pittsburgh’s Music Smiles non-profit program, an organization which brings music to patients in hospitals. During these performances, he typically does bedside visits or sings to patients in oncology.

Besides music, Hannigan also started a visual arts project in 2016 dubbed “Continuous Creativity.” Since he believes art is mostly perspiration and hard work (rather than merely inspiration), he creates at least one piece of art per day. To date, he’s created more than 1000 pieces of art, focusing mostly on digital drawing and designs, which he showcases on his instagram https://www.instagram.com/hanniganchris/. This year, he’s working to create a product line featuring t-shirts, prints, and a variety of other household accoutrements.

Finally, as a writer, Hannigan regularly writes poetry. Joining a group based in Austin, TX, he and other renowned songwriters, photographers, and poets from across the nation all write at least one poem per week. His goal this year is to publish his first chapbook or to self-publish through his musician’s website.
