Born in Frankfurt, Germany and currently living just northeast of Pittsburgh, Kimberly Ryan's work is influenced by her travels as well her daily life here in Pittsburgh. Painting since childhood Kimberly is primarily self taught, although, she has taken private lessons and attended classes at the Chicago Art Institute. With the use of bright vibrant colors, traditional landscapes, gothic Halloween art, and animal portraits, there is a diverse imagery to explore in her work. Her work is like a personal diary reflecting different emotions and time periods of her life as well as her different interests. Creating work that inspires others is the challenge she sees in making something new. She also takes great pride in teaching art to aspiring artists and non artists who attend her classes at Painting with A Twist in Monroeville, Pa. Kimberly also sits on the art council board at Penn State New Kensington and is a member of the New Kensington Art Center community group.
Kimberly has a background in design and art from a wide variety of experiences. A kitchen designer in Charlotte, NC for 8 years enabled her a unique architectural background working in construction and interior design and graphic design.
Her passion for painting is from childhood where she took private lessons and attended the Chicago Art Institute.
Since living in Pittsburgh she has found new sources of inspiration in the cities bridges, unique urban and rural landscapes as well as her interpersonal relationships with other artists.
