The ability to relate to one another is part of our human condition. We make connections with others and recognize similarities in our lives very naturally. This is the starting point for why I create my work.
My observations of everyday human experiences are of deep interest. My work attempts to illustrate the subtle shifts and changes in our lives that we rarely make time to explore.
Mary Dorfner Hay has been creating art since she was a little girl. After graduating with a B.F.A. from Edinboro University, Mary spent the early part of her professional career in graphic design, building a foundation in color, concept and composition—characteristics that come into play in Mary’s fine art today.
Mary’s most recent work explores the human desire to make connections to one another through experiences. She focuses on creating work that is conceptual, well-crafted and beautiful.
Mary lives and works in the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with her husband and two sons. When she is not renovating their home, building Legos, cooking meals, fixing boo-boos, folding laundry or reading stories, she is making art.
