The viewer is meant to be haunted by the secrets of the objects in my images. I have always been fascinated by the lives of objects --particularly discarded objects that once had some intimate connection to their owner. Often, my still life images include textiles owned, used or made by women. In my work, the proper expression of the connection between body and object is best achieved when the resulting image is itself a handmade object. I do not, however, reject the digital world. My process is primarily analogue. My prints are alternative and historic processes like salt and gum bichromate, but are aided by technology. Photographers in the 21st century should make use of all available tools. The image is above all other considerations.
