My work combines traditional embroidery and quilting techniques of West Europe with such diverse visual vocabularies as the fiberart traditions of East Europe and East Asia and the repetitive linearity of topographic and soil formations. Recent themes in my work have included the Roma Rights movement and the construction of identity.
A native Pittsburgher, Evan Zajdel graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Honors College in 2013 with a Bachelor of Philosophy in Interdisciplinary Studies. Evan teaches knitting, crochet, and quilting in the Pittsburgh area.
