Joe Jacob and Evy Rogers have developed a unique technique for acid-etching aluminum.
Evy designs and hand paints the aluminum pieces of art with a brush dipped in a resist. Her original paintings are permanently etched into the aluminum..
Joe acid-etches the aluminum. The painted surface remains untouched while the unprotected background dissolves from the acid. He hand finishes each piece with saws, files, steel wool and buffing.
The acid etched aluminum art is incorporated into the hardwood furniture that is designed by Evy and hand built by Joe.
Our paintings on canvas are designed with unique wood frames. Each hand crafted frame is integral to each painting. Our excellent craftsmanship continues from our furniture to our paintings and frames.
Jacob Rogers Art integrates fine art with function and offers rare and unique luxury items made from acid-etched aluminum. Jacob Rogers Art also creates paintings on canvas with custom frames. The Jacob Rogers Art partnership was established in 1993 and has been recognized by publications such as the Robb Report Collections, the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, and the American Artist magazine with descriptions such as marvelous creations that are useful yet seem more like high-art sculptures, and a union of creative and technical artistry.
Evy Rogers began her career after graduating with a Masters Degree in Art Education from Pennsylvania State University. A professional painter of canvases, she turned to etching aluminum metal in the 1980’s to expand into 3 dimensional art. Rogers has received numerous awards and has shown her work at the national level in museums and galleries.
Joe Jacob met Evy while showing his art furniture and a creative union was struck in metal and wood. Joe graduated from the North Bennett School of Boston where he studied antique reproductions and was conferred the degree of Master of Antique Reproduction.
Evy and Joe have studios in Pennsylvania where fine art meets fine craftsmanship. Evy designs and hand paints the aluminum pieces at her studio and Joe has a metal and wood workshop/studio where he uses traditional wood working tools and techniques to transform hardwoods to fine art and furniture which incorporates the etched metal plates. Custom wood and etched-aluminum commissioned pieces are frequently seen leaving their studios along with their shipments of acid-etched aluminum luxury items for the home and office.
