I am constantly in a struggle with my mental illness, and painting carries me through those episodes, challenges me to continue to get well and helps me find beauty in my most painful moments. I prefer acrylic paints, but am also fond of watercolor.
Lauren Prewitt was born and raised in Santa Monica, California. Her art style is heavily influenced by Impressionists, and can best be described as Expressionist and Outsider. Influenced by artists such as Nancy Teasley. She first took art classes after school at the age of 6, and her love of art continued into extracurricular classes at Marymount High School. Her mental illness worsened for some time, and after her first marriage, she eventually ended up in Pittsburgh, PA. After several hospitalizations, she has finally found balance and picked up her brush again.
