Artist Statement

I am a concrete artist. I primarily create functional concrete art pieces, including planters, sinks, firepits,  countertops, wall and floor treatments.  I  encorporate canvas paintings, and cementious boards with concrete pieces, for art pieces in the round.I sometimes use reclaimed wood, glass, and metal in order to further expand my artistic foundation for spacial development. Employing this method provides dimensional layers for people to connect with. Whether a piece resides on its own or combined with large expanses of creative spacial treatments, the artwork transforms our environments in a positive manner. I believe in creating pieces that require a great deal my personal energy to produce. My position is that in doing so, good energy becomes incorporated it into the pieces construction. This unique investment is then embodied by the piece and will then passed on to the environment it occupies, impacting those who exist within it in a positive manner.   Using concrete to create art that people can use and enjoy in regular life, affords me the ablity to transfrom not only physical spaces, and intangable areas of time positivly. Objects needed to make a particular space function are the art and thereby transition the space into the art,  by viewing and experiencing the piece as it is used. My goal is provide art that provides a greater impact than only a singular one between itself and the viewer. My artwork does this by demanding that it not only be seen, but physically experienced in some way.
