By initially painting on paper, I attempt to create shapes and textures where unique color interactions ultimately become source material for collage. Coupled with original and appropriated images, the manipulated paper gets cut and deployed into meticulously detailed compositions, creating a vibrant world that viewers will hopefully find alluring and maybe even a little disquieting.
I'm a self-taught visual artist from West Virginia, living in Pittsburgh, PA with my wife and two daughters. Working mainly within the confines of 2D collage paintings, my interests and collaborative efforts have evolved into elements of design, photography, fiction writing, music and art installation. Having recently enrolled in a welding program, I've made calculated steps toward expansion into the 3D realm, and a resolute commitment to refinement and exploration.
