Jennifer Murray -
Visual Art
I remember examining my mother's tiny Easter egg dioramas when I was very young. I remember studying, with the same intensity, the back of a dollhouse with its tucked away objects at my grandmothers. In my current work, my paintings are seemingly abstract yet they are rooted in my everyday experience. I am interested in using memory as the underlying framework in order to unveil a dream-like space. The meeting of these two worlds creates an unexpected image created through an intuitive painting process. In a sense the paintings are a visual reconstruction of the memory in the way amusement parks and animated movies encapsulates the essence of childhood.
