I work quickly pushing process to evoke what is usually an exploration of a relationship in the context of a fleeting or abbreviated moment. Growing up in the country has influenced my sensibilities- I value simple geometry such as that found in a cornfield- but also what I find ideal, such as the vast open that the sea offers. I often make a point of juxtaposing noise with more deliberate markmaking to illustrate this dichotomy.
Conceptually my work draws on events in my past that influence how I may perceive the present; my heritage; and long standing, strong views on the right and wrong way we as humans should treat each other and other creatures.
